Rhinoplasty in Antalya: What to Know Before You Travel (2026)

Rhinoplasty is one of the most common aesthetic operations in Turkey. The latest ISAPS Global Survey, published on 29 September 2026, estimates 76,190 rhinoplasty procedures in Turkey in 2025, second only to eyelid surgery among surgical procedures there.
What do patients need to know before travelling to Antalya for rhinoplasty? Three things matter most: choosing the right surgeon, understanding which approach suits your case, and planning your recovery, both in Turkey and after you return home. This guide covers all three.
The NHS calls nose reshaping "a complex operation" and notes that "the results cannot be guaranteed." That is why the surgeon matters more than the destination.
Why International Patients Consider Antalya
The US CDC notes that people "may travel internationally to seek less expensive procedures or a procedure they cannot receive in the country where they reside." The NHS adds that nose reshaping is not usually available on the NHS for cosmetic reasons, though it may be provided if it is needed to help you breathe.

Open vs Closed Rhinoplasty: What the Difference Means
The NHS describes the two approaches: the operation involves "either making a cut across the skin between the nostrils (open rhinoplasty), or tiny cuts inside the nostrils (closed rhinoplasty)." It adds that "a closed rhinoplasty leaves no visible scars, but is not always possible or available."
Which approach suits you depends on what needs to change in your nose. Ask your surgeon which approach they recommend for your case, and why. A good surgeon explains the reasoning, not just what they do most often.
How to Assess a Rhinoplasty Surgeon in Antalya
The NHS suggests asking your surgeon:
- about their qualifications and experience
- if they are a member of any professional associations
- how many nose reshaping operations they have performed
- how many of those had complications
- what follow-up you should expect if things go wrong
- what their patient satisfaction rates are

Is the facility authorised? Under Article 5(1) of Turkey's 2025 International Health Tourism Regulation, the Ministry of Health authorises health facilities and USHAŞ authorises intermediary organisations. Check names on the Ministry's list of authorised facilities and intermediary organisations.
Is the facility accredited, and is there complication insurance? The same regulation requires hospitals and medical centres to be accredited by TÜSKA (other facilities need a Ministry certificate) by 31 December 2026, and requires complication insurance for surgical procedures in the operating theatre (Article 6(1)(b)–(c)).
What to Expect: The Rhinoplasty Process
Before You Travel
Expect a detailed consultation before you arrive, not just photos and a quote. It should cover your goals, your nasal anatomy, any breathing problems, and what is and is not achievable. The NHS suggests speaking to your GP first and taking time to think about your decision.
Bring your full medical history and a list of your medicines. UK Travel Aware advises making sure the surgical team has received and reviewed your full medical record.
The Procedure
According to the NHS, nose reshaping is usually carried out under general anaesthetic, takes 1.5 to 3 hours, and you will probably stay in hospital for 1 or 2 nights. Afterwards you will have a dressing and a splint taped over your nose for 7 days, and you may have difficulty breathing through your nose for about a week.
Flying Home
Both the NHS and the CDC give the same range for facial procedures. The NHS recommends not flying for 7 to 10 days after facial cosmetic procedures. The CDC notes that the American Society of Plastic Surgeons recommends waiting 7 to 10 days after cosmetic procedures to the nose before flying. Your surgeon confirms your date, so do not book a fixed early return flight.

The NHS also advises avoiding hot baths and getting the splint wet, not blowing your nose until the splint is removed, and sneezing through your mouth.

What Could Go Wrong
The NHS lists possible complications of nose reshaping, including permanent breathing difficulty, damage to the cartilage wall between the nostrils, an altered sense of smell and heavy nosebleeds. Any operation also carries a small risk of excessive bleeding, a blood clot in a vein, infection or an allergic reaction to the anaesthetic. Your surgeon should explain how likely these are and how they would be treated.
Managing Your Recovery After Leaving Antalya
Your doctor at home will need complete records from the clinic in Antalya, including operative notes and the techniques used. Under Article 12(1) of the Turkish regulation, the facility must provide laboratory results, imaging, a medication list and prescriptions free of charge on request. Ask for them before you leave.

Revision Rhinoplasty
Some patients need a second operation, for example to correct an asymmetry that becomes visible as swelling settles. Ask your surgeon how often their patients need revision and what their revision policy is, and get the terms in writing. Because swelling can take months to settle, ask when a revision would be considered.
