Mummy Makeover in Turkey: The Complete 2026 Guide for International Patients

What Is a Mummy Makeover?

A mummy makeover is not a single procedure. It usually combines two or more operations, often a tummy tuck, a breast procedure and liposuction. The plan is agreed in consultation, based on your goals, anatomy and health. In its 2024 Global Survey, the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) began reporting "Mommy Makeover" and other combined procedures as their own category.

Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) — The NHS describes it as cosmetic surgery to improve the shape of the tummy that "can involve removing excess loose skin, fat and stretch marks and tightening the abdominal muscles," for example excess skin caused by pregnancy. It adds that it is "not a quick fix for losing weight" and is usually only recommended for people with a healthy BMI.

Breast lift, augmentation or reduction — A lift changes the position and shape of the breast; augmentation adds volume with implants or fat; some patients need a reduction instead. Your surgeon recommends one based on your anatomy and goals.

Liposuction — The NHS says liposuction "is not a treatment for obesity, and it will not remove cellulite or stretch marks," and that it works best in people who are not overweight and where the skin is firm and elastic.

Other procedures, such as an arm lift or eyelid surgery, can sometimes be added. Each addition lengthens the operation and the recovery, so it belongs in a considered plan, not a last-minute upgrade.

Planning Your Stay in Antalya

How long to stay depends on flying guidance, not just on when you leave hospital:

• The NHS recommends not flying for 7 to 10 days after a tummy tuck.
• The US CDC says medical tourists "should not fly for 10 days after chest or abdominal surgery."
• UK Travel Aware advises planning to stay in the country for at least 10 days after surgery under general anaesthesia.

How to Choose the Right Clinic in Turkey

Is the facility authorised? Under Article 5(1) of Turkey's 2025 International Health Tourism Regulation, the Ministry of Health authorises health facilities and USHAŞ authorises intermediary organisations. Check names on the Ministry's list of authorised facilities and intermediary organisations.

Is it accredited, and is there complication insurance? The regulation requires hospitals and medical centres to be accredited by TÜSKA (other facilities need a Ministry certificate) by 31 December 2026, and requires complication insurance for surgical procedures in the operating theatre (Article 6(1)(b)–(c)). What is the surgeon's experience with each procedure in your combination? Ask about case numbers for abdominoplasty, breast surgery and liposuction separately, and how many of those had complications.

Who is responsible for your care after you fly home? Confirm a named contact, a clear post-operative process and how your records will be shared with a doctor at home.

What is included in the package? Get written confirmation of surgical fees, anaesthesia, pre-operative tests, hospital nights, hotel nights, transfers, compression garments and follow-up appointments.

Does the surgeon say no to anything? A good surgeon will not perform every procedure a patient asks for. If a surgeon agrees to everything before examining you, take note.

What to Expect During Recovery

Recovery from combined procedures is more demanding than from a single operation. The NHS guidance for the individual procedures gives a useful baseline:

The NHS also notes that after a tummy tuck you should keep your knees bent while in bed to avoid strain on the stitches, and that raised scars should fade over 12 to 18 months.

Arrange childcare, household help and leave from work before you travel. Your surgeon will give you a written plan for your combination.
