Patients travel to Antalya for porcelain veneers from many countries, and most wish someone had told them exactly what to expect before they booked. This guide is that conversation.

Why Do Patients Travel Abroad for Veneers?

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) describes the main reasons people travel for care: they "may travel internationally to seek less expensive procedures or a procedure they cannot receive in the country where they reside." It also notes that dental care "is the most common form of medical tourism among U.S. residents."

Cost is part of the picture, but it should not be the deciding factor. The decisions that shape your result are the dentist, the treatment plan and how much of your natural tooth is removed. The rest of this guide focuses on those.

What Veneers Actually Cost

The Real Timeline: Day by Day

Day 1 — Arrival & Consultation Your coordinator meets you at Antalya Airport. You are transferred to your hotel, then to the clinic for a full consultation, X-rays and shade selection. No procedures on day one — just planning.

Day 2 — Preparation The dentist removes a thin layer of enamel from each tooth being treated and places temporary veneers. This step is irreversible. Ask how much tooth structure will be removed, and why, before this appointment.

Day 3 — Try-In Your permanent veneers arrive from the lab. You try them in — this is your opportunity to request adjustments to shape, shade or length before final bonding.

Day 4 — Bonding & Final Fitting Veneers are bonded permanently. Your dentist checks your bite, polishes and provides aftercare instructions.

Day 5 — Free Day + Departure Many patients use this day to explore Antalya's old town (Kaleiçi) or the coastline before flying home.

The Part Nobody Mentions

Sensitivity. Your teeth may be sensitive to hot and cold for a while after preparation. Ask your dentist how long to expect it and what to do if it does not settle.

Temporaries look nothing like the final result. Do not be alarmed. Temporary veneers are functional placeholders — the final ceramic veneers will look different.

Bring reference images. Photos of smiles you like are more useful than any verbal description. Your dentist uses these to guide shade, shape and brightness — and "natural" means something very different to different people.

How to Choose the Right Clinic

1. Ask which material will be used (for example E.max or zirconia) and get it in writing
2. Request a digital smile preview before any preparation begins
3. Ask where the dental lab is and how much time it has for your case
4. Ask whether you are a candidate for veneers at all, or whether another option would remove less tooth structure

Check that the provider is authorised. Under Article 5(1) of Turkey's 2025 International Health Tourism Regulation, the Ministry of Health issues the authorisation certificate for health facilities and USHAŞ issues it for intermediary organisations. Frequently Asked Questions

How long do porcelain veneers last? A 2021 systematic review in the Journal of Clinical Medicine pooled 25 clinical studies covering 6,500 porcelain laminate veneers and estimated a 10-year cumulative survival rate of 95.5%. Fracture was the most common complication, followed by debonding. Your own result depends on your bite, habits such as grinding, and care.

Is dental treatment in Turkey safe? It depends on the clinic and the dentist, as it does anywhere. Turkish regulation requires facilities serving international patients to hold an authorisation certificate (Article 5) and, for facilities other than hospitals and medical centres, a certificate issued by the Ministry of Health by 31 December 2026 (Article 6(1)(b) and Provisional Article 1). Can I get a refund or revision if something goes wrong? Ask for the clinic's guarantee terms in writing before treatment.
