Dental Implants in Turkey: The Complete 2026 Guide for International Patients

The US CDC notes that dental care "is the most common form of medical tourism among U.S. residents," and that people "may travel internationally to seek less expensive procedures." Patients from many countries come to Turkey for implants for the same reason.

Single Implant vs All-on-4: Which Option Is Right for You?

The first question is whether you need a single implant or a full-arch solution.

Single Dental Implants

A single implant replaces one missing tooth. A titanium post is placed in the jawbone and left to heal into the bone (osseointegration) before a crown is fitted on top. How long the healing takes depends on your bone and the treatment plan, so your dentist sets the timeline. Single implants are an option when the neighbouring teeth are healthy and only one or a few teeth are missing.

All-on-4 Dental Implants

All-on-4 is a full-arch approach: four implants per jaw support a fixed bridge of replacement teeth. The rear implants are usually placed at an angle. Whether this suits you, and whether you need a bone graft, depends on the amount and quality of bone your scan shows.

All-on-4 is usually considered for patients who:

Have lost most or all teeth in an arch
Want a fixed alternative to removable dentures

In some cases, temporary fixed teeth can be fitted soon after surgery (immediate loading), with final teeth on a second visit. Your dentist decides whether that is appropriate for you.

How Long Do Dental Implants Last?

A 2019 systematic review in the Journal of Dentistry pooled 18 prospective studies of contemporary implants and estimated a 10-year implant survival of 96.4%. A more cautious sensitivity analysis that accounted for patients lost to follow-up gave 93.2%, and found older age (65 or over) was linked to lower survival. These are averages from studies; ask your dentist what affects the outlook in your case.

Which Implant Brands Are Used?

Ask which implant system will be used for your case, and make sure the brand and model are written in your treatment plan and consent documents. Internationally known systems include Straumann, Nobel Biocare, Osstem, Zimmer Biomet and Dentsply Sirona. Ask too which materials and laboratory will be used for the crowns or bridge.

Be cautious of a clinic that cannot name the implant it plans to use.

Is It Safe to Get Dental Implants in Turkey?

It depends on the clinic and the dentist, as it does anywhere. The CDC cautions that dentists in destination countries "might not be subject to the same licensure oversight" as in the US, so check the facility yourself.

Turkey's 2025 International Health Tourism Regulation sets the rules for facilities serving international patients:

Authorisation: the Ministry of Health issues the authorisation certificate for health facilities and USHAŞ issues it for intermediary organisations (Article 5(1)).
Accreditation or certification: hospitals and medical centres must be accredited by TÜSKA and other facilities must hold a Ministry certificate by 31 December 2026 (Article 6(1)(b), Provisional Article 1).
Registration: facilities and intermediaries must be members of the HealthTürkiye portal (Article 8(4)).

What Does the Process Look Like?

Implant treatment abroad usually involves one or two visits.

Consultation, 3D scan (CBCT) and treatment planning
Implant placement under local anaesthetic, with temporary teeth if appropriate
Recovery days, a follow-up check and a final assessment before you fly

Visit Two (after the healing period)

Final impressions and crown or bridge work
Fitting of the permanent crowns or final bridge
Bite adjustment and a closing consultation
